AHFOMAD 2016

2016 will remain in the annals of the African Canadian communities in British Columbia, Canada,  the African diaspora and the motherland herself, the year “AHFOMAD”, African Heritage Festival of Music and Dance came to be. It happened because of the vision,  steadfastness and tenacity of one man and a group of five forward thinking like minds who came together to form the founding Board of Directors of “Festival African Heritage Music and Dance Society of British Columbia the incorporated non – profit whose mandate the festival is poised to realize.

The 2016 edition started with the return of the one and only African music icon and Reggae music living legend, Alpha Blondy for Cote D’Ivoire at the Vogue theatre in Vancouver on June 17, 2016 and ended with the all-day extravaganza at the beautiful Surrey City Hall Centre Stage and Atrium on February 18, 2017. From the educational seminar presented by Music BC and SOCAN to the closing dynamic and exciting African Couture Fashion Show by designer Lilian O’Brien from Zambia that final day was one of non-stop fun and multicultural performances.

We couldn’t have done it without our incredible volunteers, sponsors, partners and performers who answered our call and provided us with the resources at their disposal from their funds, services, raw muscle power and talent. We are deeply grateful; and, you know who you all are.

We are getting ready for our summer 2017 edition and we promise another unforgettable event

Stay connected! Blessings
